Bring Your Dog to Cruisin' The Coast — October 4
Share
Some events you drive to. This one, you drive. Cruisin' The Coast — billed as America's Largest Block Party — turns 30 in 2026, and it's a co-pilot's dream: more than 8,000 registered classics rolling along 30 miles of Highway 90 from Biloxi to Bay St. Louis, hugging the Mississippi Gulf Coast. It runs a full week, October 4–11, 2026, so there's plenty of room to find your slice of the party.
What it is
Cruisin' The Coast is a rolling, week-long celebration of hot rods, muscle cars, customs, and classics that takes over the beachfront highway and dozens of venues across the Gulf Coast. Because so much of it happens along public Highway 90 in Biloxi, Mississippi and the towns strung along it, spectating is easy, breezy, and made for people-watching with a dog by your side — chrome rolling by on one side, the Gulf on the other.
Why it's a great outing with a dog
Open-air, beachfront, and spread across a long coastline, this is the kind of event where a mellow dog thrives. You're strolling public sidewalks and grassy medians, not squeezing through a packed show field, so you can set your own pace, find shade, and duck out whenever your pup's had enough. Salt air, endless smells, and a parade of rumbling engines make for one very interested co-pilot.
Co-pilot tips for the Gulf Coast
- Leash first, always. Highway 90 is a live cruising route — keep your dog leashed and well back from the pavement's edge, away from traffic.
- Water, water, water. Coastal Mississippi in October is still warm and humid. Carry more water than you think you'll need and offer it often.
- Chase the shade. Beachfront means big sun and little cover — plan around palm shadows, awnings, and cooler morning and evening hours.
- Check the pavement. Sun-baked highway and boardwalk get hot; test with your hand, and stick to grass when you can.
- Pack high-value treats. A stash of freeze-dried dog treats is perfect for reeling your dog's attention back when a straight-piped big-block thunders past. Lightweight, single-ingredient, and no greasy mess in your bag.
- Never leave your dog in a parked car. With a week of activity and a lot of walking between venues, take your dog with you or leave them cool at your lodging — a parked car on the Gulf Coast becomes an oven in minutes.
Good to know
From the listing: America's Largest Block Party runs along public beachfront highway — leashed dogs generally welcome in public spectator areas; individual venue sites may vary. That last part matters: some indoor or ticketed venue stops may have their own rules, so confirm dog policies with Cruisin' The Coast and any specific venue before you go.
