Eleven single-ingredient treats for cats, and every one of them is fish, shellfish or egg. That is not a theme, it is what cats reliably eat: whole minnows, sardines, sardine heads, anchovies, wild-caught pink salmon, shrimp, scallops, baby octopus, blue-lipped mussels, quail eggs and the Captain's Catch medley.
Want treats on a schedule? Modified Monthly is a custom freeze-dried treat box from our Chester County kitchen, built around your cat's tastes and shipped every month. Each month gets a new theme and a different lineup, chosen around what your cat likes and anything they need to avoid. The first box is $1 with free shipping, then $50 every 30 days. The $1 offer carries a three-shipment minimum, or a one-time $49 early cancellation.
Portion size for a cat
A cat eats a fraction of what a dog does, so most of these get broken rather than handed over whole. A minnow snaps into three or four pieces; a sardine head is a whole session for a small cat. Treats stay under about ten percent of daily food, and a cat on a prescription diet needs its veterinarian consulted before anything new goes in the bowl.
For the cat who ignores new food
Freeze-dried fish keeps its smell, which is the part a suspicious cat responds to. Crumble a little over the usual meal for a few days before offering a piece on its own. Our guide to moving a cat onto freeze-dried food covers the slow version, and cat training with treats covers what to do once they are interested.
Treats both animals share are in Shared Favorites, and the whole shop is in The Garage.
