Bring Your Dog to the Radnor Hunt Concours Road Rally — September 11

This one is practically in our driveway. Radnor Hunt sits in Malvern, Pennsylvania, the same town Sniff and Shift calls home, and every September it turns into one of the best car weekends on the East Coast.

What It Is

The Radnor Hunt Concours d'Elegance opens on Friday, September 11, 2026 with its traditional road rally, starting in the morning at Radnor Hunt, 826 Providence Rd, Malvern, PA 19355. This is the 29th annual running of the concours weekend.

The 2026 program features Bentley, American pioneer cars marking America's 250th, pre-war racing cars, and the 125th anniversary of Indian Motorcycles. Friday is the driving day. Instead of standing still on a show field, the cars go out and run the Chester County countryside the way they were built to.

Why It Is a Good Dog Day

A road rally is a different animal from a static show. There is no dense crowd standing shoulder to shoulder for six hours. The cars leave, the grounds breathe, and the setting is open country rather than hot asphalt. For a dog who likes watching the world go by from a patch of grass, that is a far easier afternoon than a packed convention lot.

It is also close to home for anyone in the western suburbs. Short drive, no hotel, no interstate. If the day goes sideways, you are twenty minutes from your own couch, which takes a lot of pressure off bringing a dog along at all.

The Dog Policy Caveat

Varies by day is the operative phrase. A concours weekend has different rules for the rally day, the Saturday programming, and Concours Sunday, and what is fine on one is not automatically fine on another. Call or email the organizers about Friday specifically before you assume your dog is welcome. Ticketing rules apply too.

What to Bring

• A short fixed leash. Six feet. Rally staging areas have cars moving at walking pace and a retractable line is how a dog ends up somewhere they should not be.
• Water and a collapsible bowl. Carry it. Do not plan on a spigot being where you need it.
• Shade. Early September in Chester County can still turn into a genuinely hot afternoon.
• Pavement check. Back of your hand on the surface for five seconds. If it is too hot for you, it is too hot for paws.
• Treats worth paying attention for. Unfamiliar grounds and engine noise raise the price of your dog's focus. Our freeze-dried treats are single-ingredient and crumble-free, which matters when you are standing next to six-figure paint.
• Waste bags, more than you think. Nothing ends a venue's dog-friendly policy faster than the alternative.

Concours Manners

These cars are irreplaceable. Keep your dog at a real distance, never let a leash trail near bodywork, and step well off the route when cars are staging. A wagging tail and a fender are not friends. If your dog is a leaner or a jumper, keep them in the grass and away from the line entirely.

And the rule with no exceptions: never leave your dog in a parked car. Not shaded, not cracked, not briefly.
