Meet Raw Instincts
Raw Instincts is not Sniff and Shift. They are a raw pet food kitchen in Homestead, Florida, and every Raw Instincts meal on this site is sold through Shopify Collective and shipped to you directly by them. We do not make, stock or ship any of it.
What they make
Prey Model Raw meal blends for dogs, cats and ferrets, ground to what Raw Instincts describes as the 80/10/10 ratio of muscle meat, bone and organ, in beef, pork, turkey, chicken and turkey, duck, and beef with wild-caught salmon, plus a lamb and sardine meal with vegetables and fruit. Raw Instincts says its meats are USA-sourced and human-grade and that batches are prepared fresh in small quantities. Those are the maker's statements, repeated as they wrote them; we have not tested the food ourselves. Raw Instincts also notes that cats and ferrets need a taurine supplement with these blends, and states in its own FAQ that the meals are a baseline and do not meet AAFCO nutrient requirements on their own; it recommends rotating proteins and adding seasonal foods to cover gaps.
How ordering works
- Your order goes to Raw Instincts through Shopify Collective. They ship anywhere in the US once a week: orders go out by UPS on the Tuesday after you order, from Homestead, FL, in an insulated box with ice packs, and arrive in one to three days with their own tracking number. The rate is set at checkout.
- Raw Instincts recommends ordering at least eight to ten pounds per shipment so the box stays cold, and says food may arrive partially thawed; it is safe to refreeze as long as every package is still cold to the touch. Unpack it the day it arrives and freeze what you will not feed within a few days. Anything we pack in Pennsylvania ships separately.
- Raw Instincts does not accept returns on raw food. A box lost or damaged by the carrier or by them is replaced or refunded; a box that went to an old address because you moved is not. Email support@sniffandshift.com the day it arrives, with a photo, and we will start it for you.

Why a treat company sells raw meals
Our treats are freeze-dried raw: one ingredient, nothing added. People who feed raw at mealtime asked where to get the meals, and Raw Instincts was the answer.
