Waterless Car Wash Kit

No spigot in the garage, no drain in the lot, and a building manager who would notice a hose. That is the constraint. A waterless car wash answers it with three things. A lubricating spray lifts light dirt off one panel at a time, used heavily enough that the dirt floats rather than drags. A thick towel with real nap carries it clear of the paint. Then a detailer for the jambs and the one panel the first pass smeared. It works on a dusty car. It will not save a car that came back from a gravel road. Where the scratch risk actually lives
Every warning you have read about washing without water is about one thing, which is grit dragged across clear coat by a dry cloth. Two habits remove most of that risk. Use more product than feels sensible so the dirt floats instead of grinding, and fold the towel into quarters, which gives you eight faces and a fresh one every time you turn it. The three pieces
3D Waterless Car Wash comes as a pint with a trigger. 3D describes it as a waterless wash spray designed to clean a car without a single drop of water, lifting dirt, grime and debris without scratching, and calls out a scratch free formula, one step cleaning and protection, and a green apple scent. The scent sounds like marketing until you are working in a closed parking deck for forty minutes. Skip the whole approach if the car has visible mud on the rockers.
Our three pack wipe down towel is out of stock, so the towel in this kit is the 3D Gray HYDRO-FIL instead. It is the 20 by 24 inch version of 3D's 1200 GSM towel, blended 80 percent polyester to 20 percent polyamide, and 3D rates it at about two gallons of absorbency. That is more towel than a waterless wash strictly needs, which is the point. Deep nap gives the grit somewhere to go that is not back against the paint. Buy a second one if you are doing a whole car rather than a hood and a set of doors.
P&S Pit Stop is the pint that finishes. P&S describes it as an extremely easy to use detail spray that removes dirt, fingerprints, dust and smudges, provides UV protection, and works on gloss and matte finishes alike, and the maker lists a second job for it as a clay lubricant during decontamination. In this kit it does the door jambs, the fuel door and the one panel where the waterless pass left a haze. Drop it if you already keep a detailer in the trunk.
Left out on purpose
No bucket, no grit guard, no wash mitt. A lot of lists for this search include them anyway, which tells you those lists were written for a driveway. If you have somewhere to put dirty water, you want a rinseless gallon and two buckets instead, and there is one sitting in the add ons for the day you move.

Doing a panel properly
Work in shade, and start at the roof. Mist one panel until it looks wet rather than damp. Wait about thirty seconds. Wipe in straight lines in one direction with a clean towel face, flip, then buff dry with a second face. Move to the next panel and repeat, and do the lower quarter of the car last because that is where the worst of it lives. Jambs and the fuel door get the detailer at the end.
A whole sedan runs about forty minutes on a first attempt and closer to twenty five once the folding becomes a habit. Leave the windshield to the detailer rather than the wash spray, because a lubricating product on glass streaks in every headlight you drive into afterwards.
What this replaces
The alternative most apartment owners land on is a tunnel wash every other week, which costs more over a year than the three items here and puts spinning brushes on the paint. A pint covers several washes of a small car. The towel lasts years if it never gets washed with fabric softener, and the detailer outlives both.
Questions from people with no hose
Is waterless washing bad for paint?
It is bad for dirty paint. On a dusty car with enough lubrication and clean towel faces, it is fine. On a salted car in February it is the fastest way to put marring into a clear coat.
How many towels do I need for one car?
Two at minimum, four if you want to stop thinking about it. A single towel runs out of clean faces around the second door.
Can I use this on a coated car?
Coating compatibility is not stated by the maker for the waterless wash, so we cannot tell you it is fine and neither can 3D. Check the label, and if the coating is new, ask whoever installed it.
How it ships

That is the only vendor in this kit, which matters if you are having it delivered to a building mailroom rather than a porch. A pint, a folded towel and a second pint is a small box, well inside what a parcel locker takes.
