St. Patrick's Day With the Dog

The short version

St. Patrick's Day at Sniff and Shift is about one small batch treat: the Pot of Gold Dog Treat Coins, made in our Malvern, Pennsylvania kitchen in two versions, sliced into coins that break clean for a pouch. Around it are the plain answers for the corned beef table and the green beer, a plan for the parade, and a shamrock tug from a partner we carry.

What the dog can have from the table

The St. Patrick's table is salt, onion and beer, so most of it stays on your plate.

What to hand the dog instead

Our guide to St. Patrick's Day dog treats covers which coin suits which dog.

The day itself

Why coins

Most of what we make stays the same all year, because a single ingredient treat does not need a holiday attached. The coins are the exception: a March batch, sliced into coin shapes so they break clean into a training pocket, in a chicken version and a yogurt version so a dairy-free house still gets the gold. If there is a cat at home, the cat treats are fish and seafood.

A shamrock toy

From American Dog, the Lucky Dog Shamrock Tug. American Dog items are sold and shipped by American Dog through Shopify Collective, not made or shipped by Sniff and Shift. If you are buying potted shamrocks for the house, read the ASPCA plant list first; the parade guide has the line.

Shipping

Treats leave our kitchen within one business day. The tug ships from American Dog on its own schedule.

After the parade

Easter comes next. The Easter page takes over on March 18 with rabbit ears, the egg hunt for dogs and what to keep out of the basket. Spring road trips start after that, and the whole freeze-dried treats line is here in between.
