Turkey necks for dogs, whole and air-dried low and slow in our Chester County kitchen. One ingredient, no cooking, ever: cooked poultry bone goes brittle and splinters, so a neck is only a chew when it is raw, freeze-dried or dried at low temperature with the meat and connective tissue still wrapped around the bone. That is what these are.
Who they are for: medium and large dogs that chew rather than gulp. A turkey neck is bigger and longer-lasting than a duck neck, which is the whole point on a long afternoon. Not for toy or small breeds, and not for a dog that swallows chews whole. Supervise every session, keep it to about fifteen or twenty minutes, and take the piece away once it is small enough to swallow or shows a sharp edge. Roughly forty to fifty-five percent of a neck is bone, so count it as part of the day, not on top of it.
Availability: sold out today and coming for Thanksgiving. The button turns on the day the first batch is packed; nothing is taken in advance and no date beyond that is promised.
The full comparison with duck necks, sizing by mouth, and who should skip them is in turkey necks for dogs. Pair the chew with a bag of freeze-dried dog treats for the training in between, and see the Thanksgiving page for the rest of the day.
Single ingredient: turkey neck. Made and shipped by Sniff and Shift in Malvern, Pennsylvania; orders over $50 ship free.
