Christmas Tree Pup-Ornaut Freeze-Dried Dog Ice Cream

These Christmas dog treats are small green trees made of two things: plain Greek yogurt and a pinch of spirulina powder for color. We freeze the yogurt in tree molds, then freeze-dry it.

What comes out is light and crunchy, and brittle by nature. Brittle is the honest word. Expect a chipped tip here and there in the bag, the way a real tree drops a few needles on its way into the house. The dog will not notice.

The holiday edition of our dog ice cream

This is the holiday edition of the Pup-Ornaut we make all year, which is freeze-dried yogurt that crunches. The yogurt is plain and unsweetened, which is the only kind we use. We make the trees for the Christmas season. When they are sold out the button on this page is off, and we do not take orders ahead. The year-round flavors come together in the Pup-Ornaut Trio.

The trees are made in small batches and shipped by Sniff and Shift in Malvern, Pennsylvania. They sit alongside everything else we freeze-dry.

The trees are an occasional treat and not a complete diet. Store them in the resealed bag.

What makes the trees green?

Spirulina powder, a pinch of it, used only for color. Everything else in the bag is plain Greek yogurt.

Why are some of the trees chipped?

They are brittle by nature, so a tip breaks off here and there in the bag. That is expected.

Is this dog ice cream kept frozen?

No. It is freeze-dried into light, crunchy pieces and stored in its resealed bag. It contains dairy, so it is not a single ingredient treat.

When can I order Christmas dog treats from you?

The button turns on the day the first batch of trees is packed. No orders go in before that day, and we do not name a date.
