Dog Beds and Towels for Road Trips: Reset Kit

By Wednesday of a two week trip the bed smells like lake water and the towel never fully dried in the motel bathroom. There is a layer of hair on the back seat that you stopped noticing days ago. Nobody who gets in the car has stopped noticing it. This is the mid trip reset. A second bed so one is always dry, a towel built to go through a wash, and three small things that put the car's interior back where it started.
The middle of a trip is its own problem
Packing advice is all written for the day you leave. Nobody tells you what to do on day nine, when everything you brought is damp and the laundromat closes at six. It is the wrong purchase for a weekend away. Nothing has had time to go bad in two nights, and a lint roller from a supermarket will cover you. This is for trips measured in weeks, or for a car that does the same trip every month.
One spare, one workhorse, three for the interior

A canister holds 150 pre moistened sheets from the Double Black collection, developed for leather, vinyl and plastic, and P&S states they clean without drying, discoloring or damaging the surface and leave it residue free. Each sheet is 8.875 by 6 inches and one usually covers a console or a pair of door cards. Reseal the lid after you pull a sheet so the rest of the canister stays moist, which is the instruction everybody ignores until the canister is dry.
The 3D GLW Odor Eliminator is for what the wipes cannot reach. It is a 16 fluid ounce pint. 3D describes odor eliminating enzymes that destroy odor at the root rather than masking it, and lists lingering food smells, pet odors and cigarette smoke as what it is aimed at. 3D says the formula needs no scrubbing or wiping, and lists it as non staining on floor carpets, seats, dashboards and trim. Spray the carpet and the seat fabric, since that is where the smell actually lives, and open the doors while you work.
The Rubyloo lint roller is the small one you will use most. The 1 Pack with 2 Refill Rolls comes to 90 sheets, with a spring loaded pop up and a retractable cover so it can live in a glovebox without shedding adhesive onto everything around it. Rubyloo describes the sheets as ultra sticky, grabbing pet hair, lint and fuzz fast. No extractor and no hanging air freshener
A carpet extractor is what would genuinely reset an interior, and it is a machine that lives in a garage rather than a trunk. If the smell is coming out of the fibers, the honest answer is that this kit holds it at bay until you get home to something with a tank and a hose. We also left out the hanging cardboard air freshener. It puts a second smell on top of the first, and after two weeks in a car with a wet dog you will have two smells and no fewer problems.
Running the reset on a Wednesday night
Swap the beds first and get the dirty one into a machine the same evening. A rolled damp bed in a trunk overnight is how a reset turns into a replacement.
Roll the seat before you wipe anything. The roller is the tool for loose hair, and the wipes were developed for leather, vinyl and plastic rather than for fabric, so they are two separate jobs in a set order.
Wipes next, working one surface at a time, starting at the dash and finishing at the door cards. That order means grit from the sills is not being dragged across a clean dashboard.
Spray the odor eliminator last, with the doors open, and let the car sit until the surfaces are dry before the dog gets back in. Do it before you go to dinner and it is dry by the time you are back.
What owning it replaces

Can I wash the travel bed in a motel machine?
Rubyloo lists it as wipe clean or machine washable, so yes. The part that catches people is drying time, not washing, which is the argument for owning two of them rather than one and a plan.
Will the odor spray work on the bed itself?

Are the wipes enough on their own?
