Built by Community: How Friends, Cars, and Co-Pilots Made Sniff & Shift
Share
Ask us what Sniff & Shift is really about and "treats" is only half the answer. The other half the bigger half, honestly is the community. The friends who show up at events, the car crews who adopted us as their unofficial treat sponsor, and the hundreds of co-pilots we've met along the way. This one's for them.
We Didn't Build This Alone
From the very beginning, our friends carried us. They showed up to events, helped behind the scenes, took the photos, supported our (occasionally chaotic) ideas, and cheered us on when we needed it most. A small business lives and dies by the people who believe in it early, and we hit the jackpot on that front.
Every pop-up, every conversation, every co-pilot who stopped by the booth added up to something bigger than a product line. It became a community and that community is the best thing we've built.
Where Car Culture Meets Dog People
We had a hunch that gearheads and dog lovers were the same crowd more often than not. We were right. At car meets from Malvern to the shore, we found people who obsess over their builds and spoil their dogs rotten the same attention-to-detail energy pointed in two directions.
The Car Meet Crew
Ella became a fixture at local meets, making her rounds to find the cleanest ride for a photo op. Along the way we met lifelong friends, talented photographers, and dogs who became regulars. That crossover dogs and cars, side by side is the heartbeat of the brand. We wrote more about it in our adventure articles.
The Event Family
DockDogs weekends, markets, expos, and charity car shows became our second home. There's nothing like spending a day surrounded by people who love their dogs as much as you love yours. If you want to catch us in person, our events calendar stays updated.
Giving Back to the Community That Gave to Us
A community isn't a one-way street. Over our first year we were proud to support charity car shows and rescue efforts, because the same network that lifted us up can lift up dogs who need homes and causes that matter. Supporting local farms, makers, shelters, and small shops is baked into how we operate.
Why Shopping Small Actually Matters
When you buy from a small, family-owned brand, your support does more than fill a treat jar. According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, small businesses are a major engine of local job creation, and dollars spent with them tend to circulate back into the community. In our case, that means regional farms for our proteins, local photographers for our shoots, and local events getting a little more support.
Easy Ways to Support Small Pet Brands
- Buy direct when you can try a Sample Pack or build a Modified Monthly box.
- Leave a genuine review to help other dog parents.
- Share a photo of your pup enjoying the goods and tag the brand.
- Show up at events and say hi we remember every conversation.
