Cleaning a silicone slow feeder bowl properly

Clean your slow feeder of freeze-dried treat residue easily since silicone does not stain. Silicone slow feeders from SodaPup do not stain, do not hold odor and do not require special cleaning products. After every meal, rinse with hot water or put the tray on the top rack of the dishwasher.

Dishwasher method for convenience

Place the Garden Design eTray, Mandala eTray, Waiting Dogs eTray, Mandala Softie eTray, or Four Seasons eTray on the top rack only. Never put silicone on the bottom rack near the heating element as heat may affect durability. Run a normal cycle with your regular detergent. Let it air dry or wipe with a towel afterward.

Hand washing for immediate use

Rinse under hot running water immediately after the meal to stop food from drying. Use a soft sponge or cloth to wipe the ridges if dry kibble or food residue is stuck. Regular dish soap works fine for cleaning. Rinse until clear. If you add our freeze-dried treats to meals, crumbles wash out easily. Wipe dry or let it air dry completely. No scrubbing or aggressive brushing is needed with silicone.

Handling stubborn residue buildup

If freeze-dried crumbles or wet food has dried into the ridges, soak the tray in hot water for ten minutes before washing. Silicone does not absorb water, so soaking just softens what is stuck. Then wash normally and rinse thoroughly with fresh water.

Odor stopion and management

Silicone does not hold odor like plastic or rubber. Even if you leave the tray sitting for a day after mealtime, rinsing and dishwashing removes any smell completely. There is no need for special treatment or extra vinegar rinses ever.

Drying and storage

After the dishwasher, you can air dry the tray upright or flip it over so no water pools in the ridges. If you hand wash, wipe dry immediately or let it sit upright on a drying rack. Either way, the tray dries quickly because silicone does not absorb water like other materials.

How it ships

SodaPup products are sold through Shopify Collective and shipped to you directly by SodaPup in Longmont, Colorado, usually within one business day, with their own tracking. Not made or shipped by Sniff and Shift. Our freeze-dried treats are made in Malvern, Pennsylvania and ship separately from us.

Storage for your slow feeders

Store clean, dry trays in a cabinet or drawer. Silicone does not require special storage and won't degrade in normal conditions. You can stack multiple trays since silicone is flexible and won't scratch or break under pressure.

Durability and longevity

A single silicone slow feeder tray lasts for years of daily use. Many owners report having the same tray for five or more years without any wear. The material simply does not degrade like other materials would.

Questions

Can I use bleach to clean silicone slow feeders?

You can, but you do not need to. Hot water and regular dish soap are sufficient and work well. Bleach may discolor some colors over extended use.

Will the ridges trap bacteria if I do not clean right away?

No. Silicone is non-porous and does not harbor bacteria the way porous ceramic does. Washing within a few hours is fine, even if you cannot wash immediately after mealtime.

Should I dry the tray upside down or right side up?

No requirement either way. Air dry it upright so any remaining water drains out completely, or flip it over. Both methods work equally well.

Does dishwasher detergent damage silicone?

No. Regular dishwasher detergent is completely designed for silicone. Strong or abrasive cleaners are not necessary for maintenance.

Can I use a scrub brush on the ridges?

Yes. Silicone is tough and won't be damaged by a stiff brush. Just avoid scraping with metal or sharp tools that could cut the material.
