The Fire Hose Chief Dog Tug is the Chief Dog design in American Dog’s fire hose line, made from genuine fire hose. The brand’s pitch is simple enough, the material is built to survive a fire, so a determined dog is a smaller ask. It is aimed at dogs who treat tugging as a personality trait, dogs over about 30 pounds, and dogs with a graveyard of previous toys in the backyard.

It runs 11 inches of squeaky fire hose with a dual fold technology ballistic handle for the human end, which is what makes a real tug of war possible without losing your grip. It is machine washable, which is not a small thing for a toy that ends up in mud, and it floats, so pool fetch works too. Supervised play is always recommended, as no dog toy is indestructible.

American Dog has been making dog gear in Colorado since 2014, and the company says every product is made in the USA. Handmade in the USA by American Dog, our Denver partner brand, and shipped from Denver, usually within five to seven business days. Not made by Sniff and Shift. Chief Dog is one of a long list of printed designs in the fire hose range. Meet American Dog to read how the brand started and how its Gracie’s Giveback program donates toys to rescues each quarter.

Trade a treat for the toy when you want the game to end on your terms rather than your dog’s. Browse our full treat range for something to hand over between rounds. Not eligible for our free local delivery; ships from Denver.
