P&S Iron Buster Wheel and Paint Decon Remover, 5 Gallon

Iron Buster is the decontamination step between washing and polishing. P&S describes it as "a color changing, fast acting, pH balanced cleaner formulated to safely dissolve ferrous particulate from wheel and painted surfaces," and says it "will safely and effectively remove embedded iron particulate along with other contaminants from wheels and painted surfaces." Those embedded specks are what make clean paint still feel rough under your hand.

The color change is the useful part in practice. P&S: "Once applied product will quickly change to a purple color when iron particulate is plentiful and then can be rinsed to produce a clean surface." So you spray, watch where it bleeds purple, and let that tell you which wheels and which panels actually needed it. Work a cool, shaded surface and rinse thoroughly rather than letting it dry.
