Iron Buster is the decontamination spray P&S built for wheels and paint, and the pint is the size most home detailers actually finish. Brake pads shed hot iron that lands on wheel faces and embeds in clear coat, where soap will not shift it. P&S describes Iron Buster as a "color changing, fast acting, pH balanced cleaner formulated to safely dissolve ferrous particulate from wheel and painted surfaces." Once applied, the product turns purple where iron is plentiful, then rinses away to leave a clean surface.
Wash first, then work panel by panel on cool paint in the shade. Spray, let it dwell until the purple stops spreading, and rinse thoroughly before it dries. Run it before claying and again before you lay down wax, sealant or a coating, because contamination you seal over is contamination you keep. A pint covers a set of wheels several times over, or one full decontamination pass on a normal car, which makes it the sensible bottle if this is a spring and fall job rather than a weekly one.

A car that hauls a dog gets driven to places that are hard on wheels, and it earns the deep clean twice a year. Once the rinse water runs clear, our freeze dried dog treats are the part of the routine the dog cares about.
