P&S Matte Finish Protectant

Matte and satin paint fails differently from gloss, and it fails when you treat it like gloss. P&S is blunt about it: "Do Not use typical wax products as they will tend to initially increase the gloss and then haze the finish unevenly." That is the whole reason this product exists. Made by P&S, Matte Finish Protectant is formulated to leave the flat appearance alone. The maker says it "maintains the original appearance and adds a layer of protection to maximize the appearance of your Matte finish," and notes that with the correct product, "care and maintenance can be as easy as a regular glossy finish."

Wash the car first and let the paint dry and cool. Apply the protectant evenly with a clean microfiber, panel by panel, and level it before it flashes so there are no streaks or shiny patches sitting next to flat ones. It also works on matte and satin vinyl wrap and matte trim, where the same rule applies: nothing that builds gloss. Keep it away from the abrasives and finishing polishes you would use on a gloss finish.
