P&S Paint Coating Surface Prep, Pint

This is the step between polishing and coating, and skipping it is the most common reason a coating fails early. Made by P&S, Paint Coating Surface Prep is described by the maker as "a surface preparation solution to clean paint surfaces prior to application of automotive coatings," formulated specifically for use with Inspiration as part of the P&S Double Black Renny Doyle Collection. Its purpose, in P&S's words, is "to cleanse the paint surface of wax, silicone or other contaminants that could potentially hinder the coatings performance." Polishing oils and filler are exactly the sort of thing it is there to remove.

P&S gives the method: once paint correction has been completed, "spray apply a heavy coating of solution saturating the paint surface. Allow product to sit for 30 seconds and wipe clean frequently rotating towel to ensure proper product removal. Repeat process over entire vehicle." Then, before the coating goes on, inspect the paint thoroughly under a strong light. Use fresh towels and rotate them often, because a loaded towel just moves residue around. This is the pint.
