RBL GEOTek Engineered Abrasives SD6-1500, 6 in, 15 Discs

This is the 1500 grit disc in RBL Products' GEOTek Engineered Abrasives line, supplied as a six inch foam disc with fifteen discs to a box. RBL describes discs with a geometrically distributed structure that allows technicians to use any dual action sander, and especially lighter models, instead of heavy polishers. The practical reading is that the disc is designed to do the cutting so the machine does not have to be heavy.

RBL states that users will enjoy decidedly fewer heavy swirl marks, burn through, and other defects usually associated with more aggressive sanding, all while boasting long pad life. At 1500 grit this sits between the coarser cutting grits and the fine refining grits, which makes it the common starting point for levelling a run, a nib or a patch of orange peel before stepping up through finer discs and into a compound. RBL offers GEOTek in over twenty sizes and grits, so the same box format covers the whole progression. Keep the surface wet, keep the machine flat and moving, and change discs before they load up rather than pushing harder on a tired one.
