Bring Your Dog to Buffalo Bisons Tops Dog Days at the Park, September 2

If your co-pilot rides shotgun the way Ella rides with us, some of the best days on the calendar are the ones where the dog gets to come inside the gates too. On Wednesday, September 2, 2026the Buffalo Bisons close out their 2026 Tops Dog Days at the Park schedule at Sahlen Field in Buffalo, New Yorkand an early-September evening on the shores of Lake Erie is about as forgiving as ballpark weather gets for a four-legged fan.

This is the last Dog Days date on the Bisons' calendar this year, which makes it worth the drive. The promotion is built around a bundle ticket that includes a soft drink, a treat for your dog, and a discount on a dog accessory, a nice touch that tells you the club actually wants dogs in the building. There's even a veterinarian on site at various Dog Day games, so it's a friendly, low-stress crowd of people who all showed up for the same reason you did.

Why it's a great outing with a dog

Minor league ballparks are some of the easiest dog outings going: wide concourses, grass berms, plenty of room to find a quiet spot, and a whole stadium of people who think your dog is the best thing they've seen all night. September in Buffalo trades away the August heat for cool lake-effect evenings, which means a happier dog and a cooler walk from the parking lot to the gate. Bring a settled, socialized dog and you'll both have a blast.

Co-pilot tips for game night

A few things we always pack when a dog is coming to a crowded venue:

  • Leash and manners. Keep the leash short in the concourse and around food lines. A ballpark is loud, and even a bombproof dog can get startled by a between-innings air horn.
  • Water and shade. Bring a collapsible bowl and offer water often. Get to your seats with shade in mind for the first-pitch sun, then let the evening cool things down.
  • Watch the pavement. Parking lots and concrete concourses hold heat. Do the seven-second back-of-the-hand test before a long walk, and pick grass over asphalt when you can.
  • High-value treats. Pack something your dog will choose over a dropped hot dog. Our freeze-dried treats are single-ingredient, low-mess, and easy to tuck in a pocket, great for rewarding a steady 'settle' when the crowd roars.
  • Never leave a dog in a parked car. Even a mild September afternoon can turn a closed car dangerous fast. If the dog can't come in with you, the dog stays home.
