Dog Road Trip Rest Stop Kit: Grab and Go

The strip of grass behind a gas station is the worst place to find out the leash is in the trunk under the cooler. A rest stop lasts six minutes and the whole job is: dog out, dog walked, dog watered, dog back in. This kit is the grab and go version of that, one leash, one collar, one bag that carries treats, waste bags and a bowl at the same time.
Six minutes, four or five times a day
Long drives and city blocks have the same shape. You are out for a few minutes, several times a day, and every extra thing you have to find first is a reason the stop goes badly. Five things that fit in one hand or on one clip
The 2 Hounds Design reflective nylon leash is made in North Carolina with a sewn fixed handle, in 5/8 inch and 1 inch widths and six lengths. What we left out
No long line, and no retractable. A twenty foot line is a good tool in a field and a bad one in a parking lot, where the whole point is keeping the dog inside your own arm's reach. We also left out a car harness or tether, which is a separate purchase with its own standards and not something this kit pretends to cover.
The stop itself
Bag on first, then collar check, then the door. Walk away from the pumps and the bins toward the quietest grass you can see, which is usually the far corner past the trucks. Give the dog a minute to sniff before you ask for anything, since a dog that has been in a crate for two hours is not ready to work. Water after the walk, not before, in the bowl folded into the bag. Pay one piece of cheddar for coming back to you at the car door, every single stop, and the fifth stop of the day goes as smoothly as the first.
What this replaces
A leash in one door pocket, bags in another and a bowl somewhere in the trunk. Consolidating those into one clip on unit is the entire idea, and it is why this kit is worth buying as a set rather than assembling from what you own. How often should I stop?
Every two hours or so is the usual advice, and it is as much for you as for the dog. Adjust for heat, for a puppy, or for an older dog that stiffens up, and plan stops where there is grass rather than only fuel.
Is the bowl in the bag enough water?
For a stop, yes.
