Both flannels in this kit come in dog sizes and kid sizes and nothing else. There is no adult fit on either listing, so if the plan was a parent in the same print, the plan needs changing before you order. What you get instead is a genuinely matched child and dog, off one product page, in one print run, which is the version of this that actually photographs well.
Why the dog size chart comes first
Good Thomas lists these dog first, and the kid sizes are the match rather than the other way round. That is worth knowing because the dog range is the narrow one. Good Thomas says Big Sky dog sizes run extra small for 5 to 10 pound dogs, small for 11 to 16 pound dogs, and medium for 17 to 28 pound dogs. A 30 pound dog is out. Check that number before you get attached to the print, and if the dog is bigger, the matching pajama set carries a range that goes considerably further up. Big Sky, the everyday one
Good Thomas describes the Big Sky Flannel as starting with the dog's shirt in brushed cotton with layered shades of blue, matched to the same flannel print in kid sizes. Good Thomas says kid sizes run small at 6 to 9 months up through extra extra large at 4 to 5 years, and lists 8 of 8 variants available. Blue reads as a normal shirt rather than a costume, which matters if you want the photograph to look like a family rather than a theme. This is the one to buy first if you are only buying one.
Chalet, for the second child or the second dog
Good Thomas describes the Chalet Flannel as starting with the dog's shirt, a festive flannel in brushed cotton, matched to the same print in kid sizes. Buy it when there are two children, or two dogs, and you want the pair of them in different prints from the same family rather than in the same shirt twice. The bandana, for a dog that is not having a shirt
Some dogs go rigid the moment a foreleg goes through a sleeve. Riley is the answer for that dog, and it is also the piece that works when the dog is too big for either flannel. Pink Papyrus lists three neck sizes on it: up to 13 inches at Small, up to 18 at Medium and up to 22 at Large, which covers a great deal more dog than the 28 pound ceiling on the shirts. Pink Papyrus describes Riley as a classic tie on bandana with double sided fabric and hand stitched accent trim. A knot rather than a buckle means nothing new goes around the neck, and one pull ends it if the dog has had enough.
Liver, because a young dog will not stand still for free
Beef liver is in this kit for one reason: it is the strongest thing we make that still breaks into pieces small enough to feed twenty times in a row. The only ingredient is beef liver, freeze-dried in small batches in Malvern, in 1.5, 3 or 6 ounce bags. Teaching a dog to stand while a child puts a sleeve on is a training exercise, not a clothing exercise, and it goes at the pace of the treats. Feed continuously while the shirt goes on rather than once at the end. What we left out
No adult flannel, because these listings do not have one, and we would rather say that than sell you a near match from somewhere else. No hat either. If you want a knit instead of a flannel, the Great Yukon Sweater is the alternative in the drawer, and Good Thomas describes it as starting with the dog's sweater knit in an alpine lodge pattern, matched to the same knit in kid sizes. Note that its dog size is extra small only, for 5 to 10 pound dogs, which is a narrower range again.
Getting a child and a dog dressed in the same ten minutes
- Weigh the dog. Then read the kid size by age, not by clothing size.
- On the listing, pick the Fit option first, then the size. Repeat for the second fit.
- A week before, practice the dog's shirt alone with the liver bag open. One minute, then off.
- Second session, let the child hold the treat while you fasten the shirt. The dog should be looking at the child.
- On the day, dress the child first. A dressed dog waiting on a dressed child loses patience before the camera comes out.
- Bandana last if you are using it, since it takes two seconds.

Is there really no adult size
Not on Big Sky or Chalet. Good Thomas lists both listings with a Fit option of Dog and Kids, and nothing else. An adult who wants to be in the photo in a matching print has to use one of the pajama listings instead.
My dog is 22 pounds, which size
Medium on both flannels, which Good Thomas lists for 17 to 28 pound dogs. Measure rather than estimate if the dog is close to 28.
Can the same bandana work for a bigger dog later
Yes, within its own range. Pink Papyrus sizes Riley up to a 22 inch neck at Large, which covers most medium dogs and some big ones.
