An office dog needs two things: a defined place to be, and a quiet job to do while you are on a call. The failure mode is not barking. One or two days a week, on somebody else's floor
Your workplace allows dogs and you bring yours occasionally. That is a different problem from working at home, because the floor is shared, the noise floor is low, and the dog has no established spot. Everything here is portable and everything is silent. The bed is the anchor, and it is doing more than padding. Running the first day
Unroll the bed before you take your coat off. The first thirty seconds set where the dog thinks it belongs, and a dog left standing while you log in will pick its own spot, usually the doorway.
Water goes down once, in the same place, and stays there. Moving the bowl around the day is how you end up with a dog following you to the kitchen every time you stand up.
Use the lick stick before the dog gets restless, not after. Most dogs start drifting somewhere between an hour and ninety minutes in, so the job lands best at the point when nothing has gone wrong yet.
Take the walk at lunch even if the morning went well. A dog that has been polite for four hours is not tired, it is stored up, and the afternoon is where that shows.
What it replaces
A folding mat replaces the crate and the guilt about the crate. One pop up bowl set replaces a dish from home and a borrowed cup.
