The case, the wrap, the collar and the towel

A collar that has been through a creek and then through a bad afternoon should still be usable afterwards. Rubyloo says it is used damp, wrings out easily and goes in the machine. Trim it down if your dog is smaller. Most days it is the thing that keeps a wet dog off your car seats, which is why it gets carried and therefore why it is there when something else happens.

Making the kit worth carrying
Open the case at home and look at every item once. A kit you have never opened is a kit you will be reading the packaging of in the worst possible circumstances.
Put the clinic number in your phone, and write it on a card inside the case as well. Batteries run out.
Practice paw handling weekly with cheddar. Front feet, back feet, ten seconds each, no drama. This is the part that determines whether any of the rest is usable.
Check the wrap and the saline once a year against the dates on them, and restock rather than hoping. The case is cheap to refill and useless when it is empty.
Carry the towel on the outside of the pack. It is the item you reach for most and the one you least want to unpack for.
