Energy 4,057 kcal/kg calculated metabolizable energy (496 kcal/cup). AAFCO: Animal feeding tests using AAFCO procedures substantiate that Pro Plan Sport Performance 30/20 Beef & Bison Formula provides complete and balanced nutrition for all life stages, including growth of large sized dogs (70 lb or more as an adult) (per manufacturer). Beef is the first ingredient.

This dry recipe carries the same 30 percent protein and 20 percent fat guaranteed minimums as the Performance line's salmon recipe, built around beef instead. The first five ingredients by pre-cook weight are beef, rice, poultry by-product meal, corn protein meal and whole grain corn, with bison appearing eighth on the list rather than in the top five, behind several grain and meal ingredients. The manufacturer's AAFCO statement covers all life stages, including growth of large sized dogs expected to reach 70 lb or more as an adult. Purina sells this bag at 33 lb. The maintenance feeding chart runs from about 1/3 cup a day for a 3 to 12 lb dog up to roughly 3-2/3 cups plus more for dogs over 100 lb, with additional sections on the label for weaning pups, growing pups and reproducing females. Dogs who lose interest in a rotation often take it again with a single ingredient freeze dried topper crumbled over the top.
