We built a dog game about Ella, and it is free

Ella Run started as an easter egg. Tap the logo on our homepage five times and a small red coupe appears with Ella riding shotgun; you hop over cones and potholes and catch freeze-dried treats for as long as your reflexes hold. People kept finding it, so it now has a front door: play Ella Run here, free, in the browser, no download and no account.

What is new

The game page now shows the top twenty scores of the month. Scores reset each calendar month, and when the month closes a 10 dollar Sniff and Shift gift card goes to the highest player who has not already won this year, one per person per calendar year, players 18 and over. Entry is free and skill is the only thing that counts; the full terms are on the Ella Run rules page. There is also a share button after every run, and two things happen if you get good enough that we are not going to describe.

Why a dog game on a treat shop

Ella is the real dog behind every treat we make in our Malvern, Pennsylvania kitchen, and the red car is the one we drive to shows. The Pit Crew Posts blog is where her actual weekends live; the game is the version where she never has to wait for the light to change. The treats in the game are real too: the freeze-dried dog treats are the same ones she tests.

Play it on a phone with one thumb or on a keyboard with the space bar. Names on the board are chosen by players and screened automatically, so keep it clean and it stays up.
