Freeze-dried treats that fit treat toys and dispensers
Share
Treat toys work best when what you load them with matches what your dog wants bad enough to hold focus. Single-ingredient freeze-dried treats do that without the mess of raw or wet food, and they fall out clean when your dog works the toy right.
Which treats load easiest
Freeze-dried beef liver crumbles into any toy opening. Fill a rubber dispenser with small pieces or grind a larger piece on a mortar and pestle, then pack the toy. Liver at $20.00 or $25.00 works best because it breaks into whatever size your toy asks for.
Freeze-dried whole sardines at $20.00 or $25.00 break in half and load into larger openings. If your toy has a narrow slot, break them smaller first. Whole pieces hold shape inside the toy, so they do not turn to paste like wet food.
Sardine heads at $15.00 are pre-sized for most toy openings. They stay crunchy while trapped, so your dog works the toy longer to get each piece out.
Freeze-dried tripe at $20.00 or $25.00 does not crumble, but small pieces still fit most toy slots. Pack it tight so pieces do not rattle loose until your dog works them out.
Freeze-dried shrimp at $20.00 hold firm and load cleanly. Their small curl fits toy openings meant for tiny pieces.
Which toys hold how much
The SodaPup Sugar Skull at $16.99 is a rubber dispenser shaped like a sugar skull for dogs 30 to 65 pounds. It holds 6 fluid ounces. Fill it with kibble, peanut butter, or freeze-dried pieces, then freeze it for two to four hours.
The Football at $15.99 is a rubber fetch toy and treat dispenser sized for medium to large dogs. It holds 6 fluid ounces and stands 4.25 inches tall. Fill it the same way: kibble, peanut butter, or freeze-dried treats, then freeze.
Filling the toy
Pack freeze-dried treats tight into a toy opening so pieces do not fall out until your dog works them. If using whole pieces like sardines, break or grind them first to match your toy's slot. Freeze-dried liver crumbles naturally, so fill and go. These toys clean in the dishwasher after your dog empties them.
Frozen versus unfrozen
An unfrozen toy lasts five to ten minutes. Frozen, the same toy lasts thirty minutes or longer because your dog has to wait for warmth to soften and release the pieces. Freeze both toys for two to four hours, then present to your dog straight from the freezer. The Sugar Skull and Football both go in the freezer and the dishwasher.

Questions
How much treat do I put in a toy?
Fill each toy to capacity: both the Sugar Skull and Football hold 6 fluid ounces. Pack freeze-dried pieces tight so they release slowly as your dog works the toy.
Which treat lasts longest in a toy?
Frozen sardine heads last longest because they are already small and crunchy. Frozen liver releases faster because it crumbles. If you want extended play, freeze sardines or shrimp instead of liver.
Can I use peanut butter and freeze-dried treats together?
Yes. Spread peanut butter across the inside of the toy, then pack freeze-dried pieces on top. The combination holds the pieces in place longer than peanut butter alone.
What if my dog is a power chewer?
Both toys are rubber and meant for heavy chewers, but size up means choosing the Sugar Skull for a powerful dog instead of the Football. Supervise play and replace the toy if it shows cracks or chunks missing.
Can I load these toys in advance?
Yes. Fill and freeze a toy the night before, then present it frozen the next day. Loaded toys keep in the freezer for weeks and do not defrost at room temperature as quickly as unpacked treats.
