Treat pouch for recall practice and obedience training

Recall training lives and dies on timing with freeze-dried treats. The instant your dog turns and comes toward you, you mark and deliver the reward. If you fumble with a zipper or dig past other items, that moment is lost. A recall pouch opens with a squeeze and holds freeze-dried crumbles, nothing else, so the reward lands in half a second.

The squeeze-to-open design

No zipper, no clip, no opening mechanism except a gentle squeeze of the pouch wall. You reach in with your fingers, the treat falls into your hand, and your dog gets marked. Up Dog Shop built the One-Hand Treat Training Pouch with food-grade silicone so it feels smooth in your hand and does not snag or bind. The squeeze opening also means you can load and grab treats without looking down, keeping your eyes on your dog and your body oriented toward whatever is coming next.

Size for a training session

The One-Hand pouch holds a handful of small treats alongside keys and waste bags, measuring 3.9 inches by 3.3 inches by 1.7 inches. That is sized for a recall session where you are thirty to sixty repetitions in, rewarding every single come, so your treats need to be small enough that you give a crumble and the reward lands every time. Freeze-dried treats crumble into pea-sized pieces, which is exactly the scale you want. A session where every reward is a pea-sized crumble means you can run a hundred marks before your pouch runs out.

Where to wear it

Loop it through a belt, clip it to your leash, or wear it around your wrist. A wrist loop works when you are in a confined space like a fenced yard or a training building and you want to grab treats without reaching anywhere else. A leash loop keeps the pouch close to your hands and your dog. A belt loop works for longer sessions where you want the pouch stable at your side instead of swinging.

Pairing treats with the pouch

Freeze-dried treats are the only treats that stay dry against silicone. Wet or sticky rewards smear the inside and make the next repetition harder, so you want a treat that crumbles clean and does not leave residue. Our Freeze-Dried Beef Liver is high-value enough to mark a huge come, and it crumbles into pieces small enough that you can load sixty rewards into your pouch. Freeze-Dried Beef Tripe works the same way for dogs who need variety or find liver too rich. Freeze-Dried Sardines appeal to fish-motivated dogs and work equally well in a squeeze pouch for tracking or recall.

Questions

Can I fill the One-Hand pouch at home and take it on a walk without the treats spilling?

Yes. The pouch closes when you are not squeezing, so treats stay inside. Some people pre-load a pouch for a recall session and store it in the fridge so the freeze-dried treats do not absorb humidity between training days.

Can I put the silicone pouch in the dishwasher?

Yes. The One-Hand pouch goes on the top rack of the dishwasher, which is why freeze-dried treats work so well with it. Wet treats that leave a smear would require hand washing, but freeze-dried crumbles rinse clean in the washer or under running water.

How much freeze-dried treat do I need for a week of recall practice?

A 1.5-ounce bag of freeze-dried beef liver yields about 60 to 80 small crumbles, so if you run four training sessions a week with 20 reps each, you need at least two bags or one 3-ounce bag per week. Order ahead so you do not run out mid-session.

Can I use the One-Hand pouch for other types of training besides recall?

Yes. Any training that needs fast reward delivery works, including loose-leash work, sit-stay markers, and hand-target touch. The squeeze design and fast-access design work equally well for any behavior that needs immediate reinforcement.
