3D 5.5" Black Foam Finishing Pad

Black is the finishing pad in the 3D Car Care system, the one that comes out after the cutting and polishing steps are done. 3D says the face is a super soft plush foam, and that the pad provides little to no cut depending on the product and the paint. Its job is gloss and clarity, refining what the earlier steps left behind rather than removing anything further, which is why 3D points it at final polishing work rather than defect removal.

The slotted spider-cuts flex when the pad spins against the panel, increasing contact area and opening to trap polish abrasives between the cuts for a longer working time. The open cell foam is more tear resistant than closed cell foam, and the slots let air move through so the pad runs cooler and is less likely to bow in. This is the 5.5 inch size for a five inch backing plate, and 3D lists it as versatile from very light polishing to very fine finishing.
