3D 5.5" Light Purple Foam Polishing Pad

3D Car Care keeps its pad system to three colors, and this is the middle one. Dark purple foam cuts, light purple foam polishes, black foam finishes. Run a hand across a clean dry light purple pad and 3D says you feel a mild but crisp texture. The pad starts a touch firm and softens slightly as it warms in use, which is what gives it the balance between light cutting, medium polishing and even finishing, depending on the polish you pair with it and how hard the paint is.

3D describes the open cell foam as more tear resistant than closed cell foam, and the slotted face as the part that flexes against the panel, opening to trap abrasives for a longer working time and letting air move through the pad so surface temperatures stay lower. This is the 5.5 inch pad, sized for a five inch backing plate, and 3D says it works on rotary, long stroke, short stroke, free spinning and gear driven polishers alike.
