3D 6.5" Dark Purple Spider-Cut Foam Cutting Pad

Dark purple is the cutting pad in the 3D Car Care system. 3D describes it as a high performance foam cutting pad for rotary and orbital polishers that, used with 3D compounds and polishes, removes defects in paint such as swirls, scratches, water spots and oxidation. Run a hand across a clean dry pad and you can feel the sharp coarse foam structure, which is what 3D says you want when the goal is to take defects out quickly rather than refine what is already close.

The slotted spider-cuts flex against the panel as the pad spins, increasing the contact area for faster defect removal, and open to trap compound abrasives between the cuts for a longer working time. The open cell structure is more tear resistant than closed cell foam, and the slots move air through the pad to keep temperatures down. 3D notes that foam cuts a little slower than wool but leaves a nicer finish behind, which usually saves a step later.
