RUPES BigFoot Backing Plate 980.027N, 5 Inch

This is the RUPES 980.027N, described by the supplier as a 125 mm multihole slim velcro backing pad with an M8 thread for the LHR15 and LHR12 polishers. Five inch is the everyday plate for a BigFoot 15, small enough to sit flat on a door skin or a hood curve and large enough to cover ground on a full car. The multihole face is part of the system rather than decoration, and RUPES lists the part on its consumables range under this number.

Thread the plate onto a clean spindle and tighten it properly, then center a BigFoot pad on the hook and loop face before starting the tool. Replace a plate once the hook loses its bite or the foam body starts to distort, because a tired plate throws a pad off center and puts vibration into your hands. RUPES warns that using backing pads or compound carriers other than members of the BigFoot family can lead to a reduction in performance and can affect the technical and mechanical characteristics of the tool.
