RUPES D-A Coarse Foam Cutting Pad, 7 in Blue

This is the large blue cutting pad in the RUPES D-A range. RUPES built the D-A Coarse foam to run on both random orbital and gear driven tools, and states the open cell foam removes mild to severe defects from most paint systems. RUPES describes the current version as combining the best aspects of the previous blue and green foams, with increased durability and a more vibrant blue.

The part number is 9.DA180H, listed at 150 by 180 mm, which pairs with a 6 inch backing plate. A pad this size covers hoods, roofs and long doors quickly, which is where a big stroke machine earns its keep. RUPES recommends running it with D-A Coarse compound, which it says gives improved cutting and finishing ability as a set. Work in sections, keep the face clean, and step down to a finer pad before you call the panel finished.
