RUPES D-A Coarse Foam Pad, Blue, 1.5 in

This is the spot repair size of the RUPES blue cutting foam, part number 9.DA40H at forty millimeters. RUPES describes the D-A Coarse foam pad as specially designed to be used with both random orbital and gear driven tools, with a unique open cell foam material that removes mild to severe defects from most paint systems. At an inch and a half across it is the pad for a single scratch, a door edge, an A pillar or the narrow band of paint next to a badge, where anything larger simply will not sit flat.

The pairing RUPES gives is its own D-A Coarse compound, which the maker says provides improved cutting and finishing ability when run on this foam. RUPES also notes that the current blue foam combines the best aspects of the previous blue and green foams, with increased durability and a more vibrant blue color, which matters on a small pad because small pads take the most abuse per square inch. Two practical notes for this size: run the machine at a lower speed than you would with a large pad, since the same setting means far higher edge speed on a small face, and keep the pad flat rather than tipping it onto an edge.
