Sniff and Shift dog at a car meet with the branded red tent, celebrating a first year in business

Our First Year on the Road: The Sniff & Shift 2025 Year in Review

When we launched Sniff & Shift, we had a picky pup, a love of road trips, and absolutely no idea how the year would go. Twelve months later, we're a little tired, a lot grateful, and completely blown away by this community. So grab your co-pilot, pour a coffee, and let's take a victory lap through our first year by the numbers and the memories.

Our First Year, By the Numbers

We're a family-owned small business, so every one of these numbers represents real dogs, real events, and real people who took a chance on a new brand. Here's what year one looked like:

Milestone 2025 Total
Orders fulfilled 340
Bags of beef liver sold 200+
Sample bags handed out 3,000+
Menu items created 15+
Events attended 30+

Three thousand sample bags is a lot of tail wags. Every one of those was a chance to meet a new co-pilot, talk to a fellow dog person, and hopefully make a pup's day a little better.

The Moments That Made the Year

Finding Our People at Car Meets

We always believed car culture and dog people overlapped year one proved it. From Cruise Weekend to local cars & coffee mornings, Ella made her rounds as unofficial mascot, and we met an incredible crew of gearheads who spoil their dogs just as hard as they build their cars.

Flying High With DockDogs

We spent a chunk of the summer trackside with DockDogs, cheering on some of the most athletic pups you'll ever see launch off a dock. Watching dogs of every age including a few seniors who still fly reminded us exactly why we do this.

Our First Small Business Saturday

There's nothing quite like a community showing up for a small business. Our first Small Business Saturday was a milestone we won't forget, and it set the tone for how much this community means to us.

What We Learned in Year One

A first year in business teaches you fast. A few lessons that stuck:

  • Quality earns loyalty. Our best-selling freeze-dried beef liver became a top seller because it's genuinely simple and genuinely good one ingredient, no fillers.
  • Samples matter. Letting a picky dog try before you buy builds trust. It's why we handed out thousands of them.
  • Community is everything. The friends who showed up, took photos, and cheered us on made all the difference.
  • Variety keeps it fun. Fifteen-plus menu items, from single proteins to Pup-Ornaut Ice Cream, gave every co-pilot something to love.

Helpful Tip: How to Support a Small Pet Brand

If you love a small business (ours or anyone's), here's how to make a real impact:

  • Order directly from the brand when you can it means more than you know.
  • Leave an honest review; it helps other dog parents find them.
  • Share a post or tag them in a photo of your pup enjoying their goods.
  • Say hi at events. Small brands remember every conversation.

The U.S. Small Business Administration notes that dollars spent with small businesses ripple through the local economy supporting jobs, families, and in our case, a few very spoiled dogs.
