Is this overkill for my dog? If your dog is under ~40 lbs or you rarely leave the park, the Mini Educator is likely a better fit.

Is this a shock collar? No, it uses adjustable wide-pulse stimulation plus tone and vibration, designed for communication at the lowest level your dog notices (source: E-Collar Technologies manufacturer documentation).

Hunting dog? Also look at the Upland UL-1200, purpose-built for bird dogs.

Which Contact Points Does This Dog Need?

This system ships with the 5/8" Standard Short contact point. On E-Collar Technologies’ own 302-breed coat chart, 163 of 302 breeds need something longer, and a point that cannot reach skin through the coat is the most common reason a collar feels weak or inconsistent.
