NABC Recycled Rides: Donate a Car, Change a Life

For most of us, a car is freedom — the school run, the job across town, the camping trip with the dog hanging out the window. NABC Recycled Rides® exists for the people who've lost that freedom, and it's one of the causes we feature in Pit Stops for a Purpose.

What Recycled Rides Does

Recycled Rides is the signature program of the National Auto Body Council (NABC), a not-for-profit representing the collision repair industry. The model is simple and brilliant: insurers and donors provide vehicles, collision industry professionals donate their time and skill to restore them to like-new condition, and the finished cars are gifted — keys in hand — to veterans, military families, first responders, single parents, and families facing hardship across the country.

The Impact

Every presentation event is a life changed: reliable transportation means access to work, school, medical care, and independence. The NABC also runs the F.R.E.E.™ (First Responder Emergency Extrication) program, donating late-model vehicles for rescue-training exercises that help firefighters save lives at crash scenes.
