Every classic car at every show you've ever loved exists because someone had the hands and the know-how to keep it alive. Those hands are getting harder to find — and The Piston Foundation is doing something about it. They're one of the causes we feature in Pit Stops for a Purpose.

The Problem They're Solving

The collector car industry faces a serious shortage of qualified technicians and restoration specialists. As veteran craftspeople retire, decades of skill — metal shaping, upholstery, engine building, paint — risk retiring with them. Without new talent, the cars we love stop running.

What The Piston Foundation Does

The Piston Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 85-4373512) that funds skilled-trades education for young people pursuing careers as technicians and restorers in the collector car world. Scholarships make automotive education accessible and help build a new, diverse generation of tradespeople — turning car-crazy kids into career craftspeople.
