Ingredients (verbatim and in label order, per manufacturer product page): Lamb, lamb broth, beef bone broth, sweet potatoes, salmon, lamb liver, spinach, natural flavor, carrots, pumpkin, sunflower oil, guar gum, agar-agar, potassium chloride, salt, blueberries, cranberries, minerals (zinc proteinate, iron proteinate, selenium yeast, copper proteinate, manganese proteinate, cobalt proteinate, potassium iodide), vitamins (thiamine mononitrate, vitamin E supplement, niacin supplement, calcium pantothenate, vitamin A supplement, riboflavin supplement, biotin, vitamin B12 supplement, pyridoxine hydrochloride, vitamin D3 supplement, folic acid).
Guaranteed analysis (as fed, per manufacturer): Crude protein (min) 8%, Crude fat (min) 6.5%, Crude fiber (max) 1.5%, Moisture (max) 78%, Vitamin E (min) 40 IU/kg, Omega-3 fatty acids (min) 0.1%, Omega-6 fatty acids (min) 0.3%. Acana notes the omega lines are not recognised as essential nutrients by the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles. Calorie content (ME calculated) 1,271 kcal/kg, 461 kcal per 12.8 oz (363 g) can. AAFCO: ACANA PREMIUM PATE Lamb Recipe Dog Food is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for All Life Stages, except for growth of large size dogs (70 lb or more as an adult) (per manufacturer).
This is the odd one out of the four Acana pates, and in the way that matters most. Its AAFCO statement excludes growth of large size dogs where the poultry, beef and duck pates all include it. The exclusion is not visible in the headline numbers and it is the only published difference in life stage coverage across the line, so if you are feeding a large breed puppy this is the one pate of the four to leave on the shelf. It is also the richest: 6.5 percent as-fed fat against 5 percent for the other three, about 30 percent on a dry matter basis, and 1,271 kcal/kg or 461 kcal a can, roughly 13 percent more energy per can than the poultry pate. Notice too that it is not a single-protein lamb food: beef bone broth is third and salmon is fifth, above lamb liver. Its 0.1 percent omega-3 minimum is double the other three, which the salmon in the list would account for. Usual two disclosure gaps, no sourcing and no made-in statement published.
