AAFCO: Animal feeding tests using AAFCO procedures substantiate that Pro Plan Adult 7+ Shredded Blend Chicken & Rice Formula provides complete and balanced nutrition for maintenance of adult dogs (per manufacturer). Chicken is the first ingredient.

This shredded blend dry food is formulated specifically for dogs age 7 and older, distinguishing it from the standard adult Complete Essentials line even though both use a chicken and rice base. Its first five ingredients by pre-cook weight are chicken, rice, poultry by-product meal, soybean meal and corn protein meal. Compared with the regular adult formula, the guaranteed analysis here runs higher in protein at 29 percent minimum and lower in fat at 14 percent minimum, and the label adds guaranteed EPA and DHA along with glucosamine, nutrients aimed at joint support in older dogs. Purina sells this recipe in bag sizes including 18 lb and 34 lb. The feeding chart runs from about 1/3 cup a day for a 3 to 12 lb dog up to roughly 4-1/2 cups plus more for dogs over 100 lb. Live Bacillus coagulans probiotics are guaranteed on the panel. Whatever food ends up in the bowl, a single ingredient freeze dried topper is a way to add interest without changing the diet, which is what Sniff and Shift makes in Malvern, Pennsylvania.
