AAFCO: Animal feeding tests using AAFCO procedures substantiate that Pro Plan Shredded Blend Lamb & Rice Formula provides complete and balanced nutrition for maintenance of adult dogs (per manufacturer). Lamb is the first ingredient.

This dry kibble recipe combines crunchy kibble with tender shredded pieces. Its first five ingredients, in the order the maker lists them by pre-cook weight, are lamb, rice, whole grain wheat, poultry by-product meal and whole grain corn; because lamb still carries moisture going into the extruder while the grains are already dry, the finished kibble's dry-matter composition differs somewhat from this raw order. Purina formulates this recipe for adult dogs and sells it across a range of bag sizes reported at retail from 6 lb up to 47 lb. The manufacturer's feeding chart runs from about 1/2 cup for a 3 to 12 lb dog to roughly 4-2/3 cups a day plus more for dogs over 100 lb, divided across one feeding for an average active adult. The formula also carries guaranteed live Bacillus coagulans probiotics on its analysis panel. Dogs who lose interest in a rotation often take it again with a single ingredient freeze dried topper crumbled over the top.
