AAFCO: Animal feeding tests using AAFCO procedures substantiate that Pro Plan Shredded Blend Turkey & Rice Formula provides complete and balanced nutrition for maintenance of adult dogs (per manufacturer). Turkey is the first ingredient.

This is a dry kibble recipe that mixes crunchy pieces with tender shredded pieces in the same bag. The first five ingredients on the label are turkey, rice, whole grain wheat, poultry by-product meal and whole grain corn, listed in the order they go into the recipe before cooking, which is why a meat that shrinks during processing can still lead the list by pre-cook weight while a dry ingredient like rice contributes more of the finished kibble by dry weight. The manufacturer formulates this recipe for adult dogs and packages it in a 33 lb bag along with smaller sizes. The label's feeding chart runs from about 1/3 cup for a 3 to 12 lb dog up to roughly 4-1/4 cups plus more for dogs over 100 lb, split across one feeding a day for an average active adult. The formula is fortified with live Bacillus coagulans probiotics, a detail the label calls out on its own guaranteed analysis panel. Whatever food ends up in the bowl, a single ingredient freeze dried topper is a way to add interest without changing the diet, which is what Sniff and Shift makes in Malvern, Pennsylvania.
