AAFCO: Animal feeding tests using AAFCO procedures substantiate that Pro Plan Weight Management Shredded Blend Small Breed Formula provides complete and balanced nutrition for maintenance of adult dogs (per manufacturer). Chicken is the first ingredient.

This dry recipe sizes Purina's weight management fat range for small dogs, guaranteeing fat between 10.0 percent minimum and 14.0 percent maximum, slightly higher than the standard-size weight management recipe. Its first five ingredients by pre-cook weight are chicken, rice, corn protein meal, poultry by-product meal and whole grain corn. The label states this formula carries 15 percent less fat than Purina's Small Breed Chicken & Rice Formula. The protein minimum here, 30 percent, is higher than either the standard or large breed weight management recipes, reflecting the generally higher metabolic needs of small dogs relative to their body weight. Purina formulates it for adult dogs under 20 lb. The feeding chart offers weight-maintenance and 25 percent calorie-reduction columns, running from about 1/2 cup a day for maintenance in a 3 to 12 lb dog up to roughly 1-3/4 cups for a 20 lb dog. Dogs who lose interest in a rotation often take it again with a single ingredient freeze dried topper crumbled over the top.
